The movie for Sunday, March 8th 2020 is….
Sleepless in Seattle (1993)
After Chicago architect Sam Baldwin loses his wife Maggie to cancer, he and his eight-year-old son Jonah start a new life in Seattle, but they continue to grieve.A year and a half later on Christmas Eve, Jonah calls in to a radio talk show. Jonah persuades a reluctant Sam to go on the air to talk about how much he misses Maggie. Hundreds of women from around the country who hear the program and are touched by the story write to Sam.One of the listeners is Annie Reed, a Baltimore Sun reporter who is engaged to Walter but feels there is something missing from their relationship. After watching the film An Affair to Remember, Annie writes a letter suggesting that Sam meet her on top of the Empire State Building on Valentine's Day. She decides not to mail it, but her friend and editor Becky does it for her and later agrees to send Annie to Seattle.

About Milo's Workshop:
Hello, everyone!
My name is Milo, and I lead a Mickey House sponsored workshop on Critical Thinking and Enhanced Observation techniques.
To explain the approach we use in this workshop, let me ask you a question:
Have you ever re-read a book, months or years after your first reading, and, in that process, suddenly noticed something (an event, a character, a story element) that seems completely new to you, that you don't remember from the first reading? And it is something significant, something you don't think you would have missed or forgotten? Yet the story hasn't changed in the interim, nothing has been added or taken away from that story. That element was always there!
Same thing in your everyday life?
The purpose of this workshop is to wake up our perceptive facilities (Active Observation) and our processing facilities (Critical Thinking), and the way we do that is
- Each week I assign a movie (Old, new, various genres), by posting its Wikipedia listing and a streaming link for that movie on the Milo's Workshop blog post for that week.
- The participants watch the movie before coming to class (Sunday's, 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm)
- We discuss our discoveries (and questions) in class.
Come join us! See you soon!
